    1. Can you handle it?

Reviewed: October 16, 2012 by RedCheeks, a Bisexual Single Female

      Packaging:

The packaging of the Anaconda is Tantus’ usual style of packaging, a clear plastic box which is free of any sexual imagery. On the back and sides of the packaging you will find plenty of information about the silicone used in Tantus toys. Because of the shape of the handled dildo, the box is a tall slim shape, measuring twelve inches tall. The dildo fits inside this nicely and there is no excess packaging. As the clear plastic box is so transparent it gives you the advantage of being able to see the toy from every angle while it still sits in it packaging. The downside to this plastic packaging is that it can be quite sharp and the edges can really manage to stab into you while you open the box.

      First Impression:

Seeing the Anaconda in person for the first time it looks just as much like a baton in person as it does in the product page photos. The shaft part of the Anaconda feels incredibly firm to the squeeze while the thinner handle section has more flexibility to it. The Anaconda is made in three colour options (Pink, Purple and Black). I opted for pink and the colour of the pink or ‘strawberry’ option is beautifully reflective of light and almost metallic looking at times, giving off shimmers of purple. On close inspection of mine very thin lines of a darker coloured pink run across parts of the shaft, I assume that whether every Anaconda has these or to what extent each Anaconda has this is down to how the silicone set in manufacturing. I don’t think it particularly takes from the appearance of the toy.

The head of the Anaconda is realistic in shape and not bulbous, measuring the circumference of the head it proves to be the same girth as the rest of the shaft and the length of the shaft is all one uniform girth. There is a very light veining on parts of the shaft but these veins are subtle and don’t really protrude.

The measurements and shape of the Anaconda are actually quite comparable to that of the Tantus Max which has the same girth as the Anaconda but just half an inch less insertable length. The heads of both are very similar when held next to each other but one big difference between them is that while the Max is made of Tantus 02 material (a firm core with a layer of softer silicone material on the outside of the toy) the Anaconda is made of an extremely firm silicone, firmer than that of any other Tantus toy I own. I wasn’t sure whether this would work as a pro or a con when it came to using the Anaconda.

      Measurements:

      Total Length: 11 ½ Inches

      Insertable Length: 7 Inches

      Circumference: 5 ¾ Inches

      Diameter: 1 ¾ Inches

Base Diameter: also 1 ¾ Inches

      In Use/Experience:

Featuring a smooth shiny head but velvety matte finish shaft, lube is an absolute must with the Anaconda and with its hefty girth I find a warm up toy is needed too. When first inserting the Anaconda I always find that the shiny head gives an illusion of easy insertion but then you quickly reach the matte part of the toy and there is extra friction so lube really does need to be properly distributed along the whole length of the shaft if you want to get anywhere with it.

Once inserted, the Anaconda is an extremely filling dildo and the fact that it is so solid and uniform in girth can work for it or against it depending on your anatomy and whether the size of this is within your comfort range. While using the Anaconda in one of my most used masturbation positions when playing with a dildo, squatting, I found thrusting the Anaconda to be somewhere between satisfyingly filling and just slightly uncomfortable, and that was after a decent warm up session with other toys. By simply changing position to sitting down and laying back slightly I managed to find relief from the almost uncomfortable feeling and was then fully able to enjoy the sensation of this unforgivingly girthy beast of a toy. While the head of the Anaconda is identical to that of the Tantus Max, the fact that the material is much firmer in this means that the ridge under the head of this is felt more than the Max’s ridge but I was quite grateful for the change in texture on such a straight shaft.

The handle of the toy comes in very useful for rigorous thrusting either by yourself or when using this on a partner. It is made perfecting to fit the hand. To look at, you would imagine that this toy maybe can’t realistically stand up by itself but it surprised me by showing that it can. While it may not be the sturdiest dildo when left to stand, short of a breeze passing through, it does stay put. I would have liked for the base to feature a suction cup instead though, the combination of handle and suction cup would have opened up opportunities for different positions with the toy and made it all the more interesting.

There is one unusual use that the Anacondas design allows for though, and that is of course using it as a baton. It looks just like one and even has the solid, heavy build to function as one! Holding the Anaconda by the handle I usually can’t help but swing it around and feel its hefty weight, great for power tripping or playing dildo Dominatrix! It really does have a good blunt thwack to it too.

In terms of use anally I would only recommend attempting this if you are well experienced with anal play. The matte finish of the girthy Anaconda is something that I find always needs a warm up toy before inserting vaginally so lots of lube is a must when used vaginally and obviously particularly when used anally. The large size and ridged head alone aren’t quite enough to really stimulate the prostate (or the g-spot for women) as the shape of the Anaconda is so straight. Its firmness is unforgiving and its matte finish creates a friction so I can feel quite delicate even after use vaginally and I would keep that in mind if you are intending on purchasing this as an anal toy.

      Care:

Made of high-quality Silicone, the Tantus Anaconda is both Latex and Phthalates free, silicone is completely non-porous meaning that it can be fully disinfected by boiling it for 3 minutes or by throwing it into the top rack of your dishwasher or it can be simply washed after use with warm soapy water or specialized toy cleaner, it is generally believed that silicone based lubricants should not be used with silicone toys. I would recommend using a generous amount of water-based lubricant with the Anaconda.

    1. Review: Tantus Anaconda

Reviewed: August 5, 2012 by acoupleofwankers

      He Says:

Firstly, I have a couple of things to get off my chest. Every time I hear the name of this dildo, I cannot help but think of the phrase "trouser snake". I don't know whether this was deliberate on the part of the otherwise lovely people at Tantus, but I wish they hadn't named their dildo this, as it is a horrible phrase. The other thing this name makes me think of in rather gruesome detail is the fact that an Anaconda is a constrictor snake, killing its prey by crushing it in massive, powerful muscular coils. Of course the exact opposite process takes place in the use of this dildo.

At least this dildo is massive and powerful. Although the concept of a dildo with a handle is not new, I have never before seen it implemented in silicone. It is an intriguing proposition, so I was very pleased that Lovehoney generously sent us this to review.

As a prelude to what is about to come, I would like to declare that I am a massive Tantus fanboy. But although no disaster, this dildo falls short of the usual exceptional standards of this brand.

The problems start with the material. Rather than the typical smooth, glossy finish I would associate with a Tantus product (and which is present on the head of this dildo), the company has elected to go for an extremely matte, almost rough, finish for the shaft of the Anaconda. This causes high friction to the touch never mind in use. The surface also doesn't seem to grip lube very well, with a couple of different brands I normally find really good for anal play virtually rolling off.

Being silicone, this dildo has the advantage it can be thoroughly sterilised by boiling for a few minutes, but it is a little tricky to clean the grooves under the glans of the Anaconda.

In use this dildo is brutal. Sometimes this is a good thing. The handle allowed Lucy to savage me with this on one particular occasion, and I hugely enjoyed that. However, most of the time I find this a bit much. This is a big dildo, but this is not really my problem. I could probably take the larger Tantus General from a standing start on even an average day if I put my mind to it. But the comparative bluntness of the head of this toy, and above all the roughness and firmness, mean I don't enjoy this most of the time. This is a shame, as the handle makes thrusting considerably less effort in several positions.

As I've already said, the handle is great fun. Just the feel of waving this wildly about in your hand, like a bizarre truncheon or cosh. I will happily admit to giving Lucy countless whacks on the head with the Anaconda during the course of our testing. Sadly, I think this might be the most fun I have had with this toy. I really don't understand the rationale behind the choice of finish to this (and it clearly was a conscious choice, as the head shows), but it has pretty much ruined this for me. However, I think the main feature of the Anaconda, the handle, is actually a success, and I would certainly be interested in other models with handles in the future if they decided to change the texture.

      She Says:

I have to say, my thoughts on this dildo largely echo those of Alex's. Tantus is one of my favourite sex toy brands, but this one just doesn't tick all the boxes.

I'll start with the size and shape. The Anaconda is pretty girthy and definitely wouldn't be classed as a beginner's dildo; it is too large for me to use anally at the moment. Strangely it tapers from a large head down to a smaller base, the opposite to what you would usually expect; meaning that it is the initial insertion that is the most difficult. As Alex has already explained, it has a strange matte finish which adds a lot of texture and increases friction whilst in use. Personally I prefer a smoother glossy finish for use vaginally, especially when using a larger toy. Even with copious amounts of lube I found this particular finish a bit uncomfortable after being in use for just a short amount of time.

Now onto what makes this one different: the handle. I actually think that this a fantastic ergonomic development. For years now I have often chosen to use a double-ended dildo for a bit of self-loving, purely for the fact that the other end works as a great handle and can make light work of a good thrusting action. This handle works even better than that, as the narrow diameter means that it is easier to grip and causes less hand cramping than a double-ender or normal dildo would. I have also thoroughly enjoyed using this dildo on Alex, it certainly allows me to give him a good pounding! Another potential market that I see for a handle like this would be for people suffering from arthritis or weakness in their hands; maybe it should become part of the occupational therapists tool kit!?

So in summary, I love the handle but don't really rate the dildo itself; and I'd love to see this design incorporated into a more conventional dildo.
