    1. Heart-shaped joy

I love the idea of a massage, but the warming up of oil and how messy it is really put me off doing it. Until I discovered the concept of massage candles. They do the warming up for you, while making the room smell great and are also a lot less messy. This one is one of my favourites.

The packaging is great, would make for a great gift, especially if you pop something else in the box, too, because it's a little big for just one candle.

The candle comes with a plastic spoon to help with the use.

It smells amazing, it lasts literally forever and has not caused any irritation to my skin. I love it. And you can reuse the packaging to keep small jewellery or hair accessories after the candle runs out. Very happy with this purchase.

    1. Burning desire

Reviewed: April 7, 2016 by glittergirl, a Straight Married Female

Purchased this candle to use with my hubby. It arrived in good time, discreet as always.

We open the tin and had the smell immediately it was very pleasant and fresh smelling.

We lit the candle and it didn't take long to start melting. Then my husband continued to drip the wax on me with the spoon provided. Wow. It felt great having the heat hit my skin. It wasn't too hot and will not burn. The oil actually felt incredible and smoothed on skin really well, lasting a long time. I've used others that really aren't too good for the massage job as dry out quick and don't spread very good, but this is perfect.

When I was using on my husband I was able to glide up his back with my breast without sticking or feeling tacky at all.

Love this and have already brought another.

    1. A true treat for couples and singles alike

Reviewed: April 6, 2016 by Briona87, a Straight Single Female

I guess most massage products are manufactured with couples in mind, but that hardly means single people cannot enjoy them as well. I have always loved candles, particularly scented ones, and, being one of those unfortunates who have been “blessed” with rather dry skin, I have also been quite fond of moisturizing oils and creams. Being quite fond of the watermelon scent, I decided to treat myself to this lovely Swoon Burning Desire Massage Candle.

The heart-shaped tin comes in a gift packaging that sports a few bits of information on the product, particularly on the ingredients - most of which are organic. There is Soya Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Almond Oil and Beeswax, and these are enriched with Vitamin E. In other words, a truly lovely, moisturising blend suitable even for dry skin (well, unless one has some rare kind of an allergy, anyway - I assume most people are bound to be fine, though).

The tin itself has a label with instructions for safe use of the candle. I suppose most of us are well aware of the potential fire hazards, but, seeing how many people are willing to play stupid when trying to sue manufacturers of various products, I am not surprised Swoon (or rather Lovehoney) has decided to provide this sort of warning.

The overall look of the tin (and of the outer packaging) is very nice. I really like the vintage style that somehow makes the old-fashioned part of myself think of meticulous grooming that may give the impression of “outward propriety” (at least to us, somewhat scruffy 21st century creatures) with undertones of “jazzy decadence”.

Upon opening of the tin, you are greeted by a pleasant smell of watermelon - this scent is powerful enough to fill your bedroom within minutes of lighting the candle (and, in my experience, it tends to linger for many hours). I suppose the idea of feeling like sleeping in a warehouse full of those round, green and red things may scare those who are not overly fond of them, but personally I find the aroma quite soothing.

Make sure you light the wick at least fifteen to twenty minutes before the commencement of your massage session - the candle melts fairly slowly. Once you have a sufficient amount of oil, use the little spoon to drizzle it onto your (or your partner’s) skin. Do not worry, the oil does not get uncomfortably hot. There is just the feeling of pleasant warmth.

Personally, I enjoy rubbing the soothing blend into my legs, arms, shoulders and stomach. Seeing I have an abdominoplasty scar, I was initially very careful with this oil, fearing the mixture might irritate it. I am, however, happy to report this has never occurred. The blend has proved to be sensitive enough not to cause any problems. In fact, I have this feeling. It actually helps to smooth the scar tissue. The oil lasts for quite some time before you massage it “fully” into your skin, giving you (or your partner) plenty of time to enjoy the sensual warmth.

Once you have blown out the candle, the oil slowly solidifies back into the hard(ish) wax, allowing you to use it many times over. The label also says the massage blend is lickable. To answer the obvious question that comes with this statement, I can tell you that it does not taste of anything very much.

While I (sadly enough) cannot speak from personal experience, I have no doubts this product would be marvellous for erotic, sensual play with your partner.

All in all, it is a brilliant product, and I am genuinely surprised it is getting discontinued. Having purchased another tin of this lovely massage oil, I can honestly say: “Get one - or two - while the stock lasts, folks. You will not regret it.”
