- Did you know Lovehoney has a 3D printer that we use to develop our own brand sex toys? "There's a big difference between seeing sketches of a clitoral vibrator and holding one in your hand. With our 3D printer, we don't have to create lots and lots of prototypes - we can just use the 3D printer to check sizes and angles and when we're happy and have the most ergonomic shape we can ask for a real working model." - Is this innovation always a good thing or does simplicity still have its benefits? A recent article at vice.com takes a look at sex toy development from some of our favorite manufacturers including Lelo and Aneros, finding that we could be moving away from complex user interfaces to those that are simple and user friendly. Proving that sometimes innovating can mean simplifying. "In fact, too much innovation can sometimes be a problem, too; no one wants to use a toy that requires a master's degree to operate, no matter how high-quality it is." [The Shape of Sex Toys to Come]
- Jay Leno should be the host for this post. He was eager to show off the Sqweel when it first came on the scene, and it turns out he's also a 3D printer power user. I wonder if he's got any sex toy designs in the works? What else is in store for the future of 3D printing? This infographic provides a look at the future of this growing technology. - 3D printing sex toys could mean the ability to create these intimate objects discreetly in the privacy of your own home. But even if you print out your dream dildo, it won't be body safe straight off the press. To created a body safe version of your printed toy you will need a mould and some silicone. Try the Cloneboy Personal Dildo Mould to create a smooth silicone replica from yourself, or your 3D printed masterpiece.
