Fetishes Laid Bare: Medical Fetishes
on May 22, 2018
For many of us, going to see our doctor is downright hassle (not to mention expensive). But for others, it’s the stuff of fantasy.
At first, those on the outside looking in may find medical fetishes tricky to understand. After all, lots of people associate doctors, nurses and a visit to the hospital with feeling ill rather than aroused.
However, if you pay close attention to pop culture, you’ll pick up on the everyday medical fetishism that exists around us. Look at the iconic cover art for Blink 182’s ‘Enema of the State’ album, for example.
Plus, who can forget Turk’s X rated dream about Elliot in Scrubs?
There is a broad speculum - sorry, spectrum - of extremely varied activities that fall into the category of medical fetishes. In fact, it is one of the most eclectic fetishes that there is!
So, if you're ready to play doctors and nurses, let's lay this fetish bare together.
What does this fetish involve?
Where to begin? One of the great things about medical fetishism is that there is room for so many different people and their fantasies. You can stay in the waiting room, or get prepped for ‘surgery’ – the choice is yours.
A medical fetish will often involve:
- Role playing as doctors, nurses, surgeons or patients
- A sexual attraction to medical uniforms and accessories, like face masks
- Examination-style play, where the patient in the scene may have their anus, vagina or urethra scrutinised in a quasi-clinical way using speculums or dilators
- Using enemas or having your temperature taken (often anally, but also orally)
- Medical equipment, like stirrups, that can be used to restrain the patient in a scene
- Hot, cold or even electrical currents can be used to stimulate the sensations that may be felt if you were undergoing a real medical procedure
This is certainly not an exhaustive list, and medical fetishism can sometimes overlap with BDSM.
How to explore your fetish
If you or a partner is just beginning to explore a medical fetish, it may be best to take it slow. The last thing you want to for one of you to end up in the emergency room for real!
Start by introducing relatively beginner-friendly toys into your play – you could treat yourself to some sexy nurse-themed lingerie, or slip on some latex rubber gloves to get your pulse racing.
You could then progress to using a toy like the Masters Series Beginner's Mini Sensation Pinwheel, which is less intense than a conventional Wartenberg wheel.
For experienced lovers of medical play, there are enemas, douches, speculums made of stainless steel and a whole lot more on the market for you to enjoy!
Remember to explore your fetish in a safe, sane, and consensual manner – that way, all parties will be in for a fun-filled evening!
