How Many People are Masturbating at Work?
on Nov 22, 2022
Being able to work from home has opened up not just a new way of working, but also a new way of living. We now take meetings in our pyjamas, and we’ve turned our beds into our offices; it has given us the power to work in any way we want. But as they say, with great power comes great responsibility.
We’ve surveyed 2,008 people over the age of 18 to take a deep dive into their sex and masturbation habits and discover whether working from home has changed them. We revealed that as many as 49% of respondents admitted to masturbating whilst they were meant to be working, and 39% had even gone as far as having sex during their work hours.
Why do people masturbate during work hours?
While it might just seem like people are masturbating because they simply want to, the top reasons for people masturbating during work hours are feeling horny (68%), stress relief (61%), and knowing it’s risky (35%). Men are the most likely to masturbate because they’re feeling horny, with 68% of them saying this is the main motivation, compared to the same percentage of women who said that they are more likely to masturbate for stress relief.
However, we found that when it comes to the risk factor, it is much more appealing to women with almost two-in-five women (39%) saying that’s the reason for them masturbating during work hours, compared to 32% of men. The risk factor is also the most common reason amongst 18-24-year-olds, with 45% saying this is a reason they masturbate at work, compared to only 11% of those aged over 55.
What is our favourite time of the working day to masturbate?
When asked at which point of the working day they masturbate the most, respondents said that bathroom breaks are the most popular time for people to take a masturbation break, with 39% of respondents saying they’ve done it then. We even found that one-fifth (20%) of respondents had skipped the bathroom break and just masturbated whilst doing a work task!
As with most things, we found there to be a significant difference in the favourite masturbation times between genders. Our survey revealed that men are much more likely to masturbate during a bathroom break, with almost half of all male respondents (47%) saying this is their chosen masturbation time, compared to just 30% of women. It was found that women are much more likely to take their time and masturbate on their lunch break, with 32% of women saying this is when they masturbate.
Based on this, it’s safe to assume that if people are taking a while in the bathroom, it’s likely that they’re using it as an opportunity to ‘de-stress’!
How many people have sex on their company’s time?
While masturbating when you’re supposed to be working sounds risky enough for a lot of people, some take it even further and have sex during work hours. Having a ‘nooner’ became common practice for a lot during the pandemic, and this has stuck with a lot of people. As many as 38% of participants have admitted to having sex during work hours, with men being more likely - 43% compared to 34% of women.
Similarly to masturbation, people are highly likely to get down and dirty on their lunch break, with 31% of respondents saying they’ve previously done this. We found that again, men are more likely to do this than women, with 35% of men saying they have, compared to 29% of women.
However, it’s not just lunch breaks that see some action. We learned that over one in 10 (16%) are getting freaky whilst doing a work task, and 15% are even taking the opportunity between meetings to get it on,
The presumption that younger generations are more frisky is certainly true when it comes to masturbating and having sex during work hours. Our study found that those aged between 25-34 rank the highest for saving sex during work hours, with lunch breaks (39%), bathroom breaks (29%) and during work tasks (20%) being once again the most opportune times.
Why are people having sex during work hours?
nlike masturbating whilst working, having sex whilst working is mostly motivated by simply feeling horny, with 64% of respondents saying that’s their main reason for getting down and dirty during work hours.
The other most common reasons people are having sex are because their partners wanted to, with 55% of men and 53% of women putting this down as their main motivation, and stress relief also crept into the top three reasons, with 40% of respondents saying this was their motivation. Risk factor also comes into play here, but interestingly enough it only falls in the top three reasons for those aged 45+. So, next time you see a free slot in your colleague’s diary, it might be worth asking that they’re free in case you’re disturbing an extracurricular activity!
The star signs masturbating the most during work hours
Leos are the sign of the lion, and as you might expect, this sign is fiery, passionate and likes to take control (and also often have a high libido!). So it’s no surprise that since working from home, Leos have seen the biggest increase in masturbation habits. As many as 34% of Leo participants say they now masturbate much more than they did previously and 61% have admitted to having masturbated during working hours.
On the other hand, we found that Pisces are the least likely, with only 38% having done it. Considering that Pisces are known for being typically ‘old souls’ and have a general inner struggle when it comes to wanting to be successful and busy, it’s no surprise that they’re the least likely to spend their working day having sex or masturbating.
When it comes to the why feeling horny and stress relief are the two most common reasons across all star signs. Pisces, the last star sign in the Zodiac, is known to be hard to define with dualling inner personalities, so it comes as no shock that they had the most varied answers; the highest percentage of respondents said feeling horny (83%), stress relief (74%) and boredom (48%) all played a part in their decision to masturbate.
Known to have an adventurous and passionate side, Cancers love to get their thrills in, even during work hours! With 50% of Cancer respondents saying the thrill of doing something they shouldn't contribute to their decision, the risk factor appeals most to this cheeky star sign.
The star signs having the most sex on their company’s time
Due to their ruling planet being Pluto, Scorpios are drawn to the outliers of human experiences, so if it’s kinky, risky, or thrilling, Scorpios will usually be there! This is fitting, as we found that Scorpios are most likely to have sex on company time, with 50% of respondents having done this.
Out of all the star signs, Scorpios are having the most sex in their lunch breaks and bathroom breaks, with 43% and 30% respectively owning up to doing this. However, with Libras being master procrastinators due to their analytic nature, it makes sense that they get the award for the largest number of respondents admitting to having sex during both work tasks (32%) and between meetings (21%).
Feeling horny is the main reason the majority of the star signs are having sex during work hours, apart from Capricorns and Aquarius who are mainly motivated by their partners wanting to, with 68% and 52% respectively, and Geminis who are most likely to have sex to relieve stress with 67% of them wanting to unwind during the work day.
Benefits of masturbating during the work day
While some people do still think of masturbation as taboo, Certified Sex Educator Bobby Box, has shared some insight on why masturbation is healthy and should be encouraged.
“Masturbation boasts a host of benefits, both mental and physical. There are technically no harmful side effects of masturbation, though excessive masturbation may become an issue if it interferes with other areas of your life.
The fact of the matter is that masturbation feels incredible and exploring your body on your terms is a fantastic and pressure-free way of learning what you enjoy and what you don’t enjoy sexually.
“Both research and anecdotal reports have found masturbation to be a fantastic stress reliever, which helps us sleep better, mitigate anxiety and depression, and put us in a better mood as it floods our bodies with feel-good hormones and neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin.
“But that’s not all. One study found that women and people with vulvas who masturbate regularly experience more orgasms, higher self-esteem and greater sexual and relationship satisfaction. It’s also been found to help with cramping and headaches due to the release of these aforementioned hormones. Masturbation can also increase sexual desire (as sex begets more sex for many) and can help men and people with penises last longer in bed. Another study found that masturbation may even lower risks of developing prostate cancer.”
