Spanking is Britain's favourite bondage activity - and it is more popular with women than men, according to a new survey.

Three-quarters of women (75%) have tried spanking compared to 66% of men.

Blindfolds are the second most popular sex game, tried by two-thirds of couples, followed by tying each other up.

More women than men have tried all the most popular bondage activities.

And slightly more women (17%) than men (16%) who have never tried BDSM would like to at some point in the future.

Other popular kinky activities include nipple play (63% of couples), biting (56%), food play (46%), temperature play (41%), role play (34%), rope bondage (17%) and chastity or orgasm denial (13%).

The results are from a new survey of 4,500 people by Britain's biggest online sex toy retailer Lovehoney to make the first official Sexual Happiness Day which is on Friday (April 21st).

Britain's bedroom habits are laid bare in the survey which also looked at our biggest turn-ons.

Humour was the number one turn-on for women, followed sexual confidence, kindness, sexy eyes and a warm smile.

For men, sexual confidence was the biggest turn-on followed by sexy eyes, good looks and kindness.

The survey found that more foreplay was the most popular thing that both men and women wanted more of in a relationship.

We most often have sex between 10pm and 11pm in the evening but we actually desire it most an hour earlier when we are less tired.

Sex in the morning is far more popular with men than women, with 70% of men saying they liked it first thing more than their partner.

The favourite sexual position of both sexes is from behind - chosen by 38%, followed by cowgirl (where a woman straddles the man) 14%, missionary 12% and spooning 5%.
