What is BDSM?

BDSM is an all-inclusive term given to any sexual behavior that might be considered 'kinky'.

Pain, physical restraint, and servitude would be frowned upon in a non-sexual scenario. In BDSM circles, however, these practices are engaged in with the consent of both people involved for mutual satisfaction and excitement.

During bondage play, there is a power dynamic that takes place, with one partner taking control (the ‘Dominant’ or ‘Dom’) and one person relinquishing it (the ‘submissive’ or ‘sub’).

The Dom/sub dynamic can be an exciting one to explore as a couple as you can try out different roles and discover what turns you on most.

Discovering bondage play and trying out BDSM toys while in a loving relationship can bring you both closer and build trust that stretches way beyond the bedroom.

What Does BDSM Stand For?

The acronym BDSM can be split into three major areas, or six different 'acts’:

  • B&D: Bondage and Discipline
  • D&S: Domination and Submission
  • S&M: Sadism and Masochism

What are Bondage and BDSM toys?

BDSM sex toys fall into four categories: beginner, sensory, impact and hardcore. This is useful to know when choosing the best bondage toys for you as you can start off with light bondage equipment and work your way up to advanced BDSM gear as you become more comfortable.

Below, we talk you through the different types of BDSM and bondage sex toys most suitable for each level of experience:

Light Bondage Toys for Beginners

If you’re thinking of trying out BDSM for the first time, beginners’ bondage toys including light restraints, handcuffs, blindfolds and other soft bondage gear should be your go-tos. BDSM games can help first-timers relax and get into the rhythm of bondage play, while beginner’s bondage kits contain everything you need to kickstart your bondage journey.

BDSM Toys for Sensory Play

Sensory play toys are designed to deprive and enhance the senses, heightening arousal. These toys include masks, hoods and gags as well as various BDSM tools like nipple suckers, feather ticklers, pinwheels and nipple clamps. You can even try vibrator bondage to tease your partner with tingling vibrations, or use other suction toys on their most sensitive parts for maximum thrill.

BDSM Equipment for Impact Play

Impact play involves spanking or striking a partner for mutual enjoyment. We offer a variety of bondage equipment for impact play, including everything from spanking paddles and floggers to whips, crops and canes.

Hardcore Bondage Toys

The more daring may want to try out some advanced BDSM gear to take bondage play to the next level. Japanese bondage rope, sex swings and bondage furniture are all perfect for building out your BDSM collection.

Take the plunge with an advanced bondage kit to push your boundaries, or shock your senses with electric BDSM equipment.

Is Bondage Safe?

All of our BDSM sex toys and bondage gear is safe when used as intended. Bondage is about pushing the body’s boundaries and it may naturally involve some pain or discomfort.

Before engaging in bondage play, you should first set these boundaries with your partner to let them know what you can and can’t tolerate. It’s always a good idea to have a safe word which lets your partner know when to stop if you aren’t enjoying a particular sensation. If ever in doubt, don’t do it.
