Petite and Pretty, But Would Look Sexier On Curvier Women
Reviewed: May 10, 2016 by popk1n, a Straight Going Steady Female
I was lucky enough to receive this item as a tester in exchange for an honest review. The product photo in my eyes was a gorgeous sight to behold and I desperately wanted this chemise. Now I have it and I feel a little disappointed... But then again my expectations were pretty hard to reach, because I loved the look of it on the photo so much.
It came in your standard clear plastic bag, with just a tag attached. Instantly, looking at it folded up through the clear plastic, I could tell this wasn't quite as amazing as I thought it was going to be. Not that I hate this! It just looks a bit... different in real life. I don't want to say the photos are a little misleading, but I will say that the lighting and drop-dead gorgeous model helps.
In real life, the colours look slightly different than in the photos. The overall colour is jet black, despite the photo looking more navy (I actually think it might've looked even nicer in navy, but I digress) and the purple accents are a warmer and brighter shade. I do adore these purple details!
The bows are positioned in the perfect places to draw your eye up top to your chest and the sequin cups are pretty, but subtle, so if you don't like too much bling, don't be afraid! You also can't tell how shiny the black panel is until you see it in real life - this is very reflective satin, which shows every crease in the fabric, so you'll probably need to iron it or leave it hanging up to eliminate those creases.
The mesh sides are elasticated in a slightly curved shape to help emphasise your waist when worn and also to fit better across a range of sizes. I think larger-sized people should find it lightweight and comfortable, instead of it digging into your skin. This ruching is actually quite flattering, but is noticeably sheer, so you must wear nice knickers underneath to not detract from the overall aesthetic.
When I first tried this chemise on just to see how it looked, I was wearing Cookie Monster knickers and they made the lingerie look a heck of a lot worse, as your eye was drawn to the novelty knickers, so this is one of those pieces where the included thong is actually very handy to have.
I am sad to report the material is cheaper and flimsier than I was expecting, and I actually think perhaps £30 is a bit steep. This is my first iCollection item, so can't compare to their other products, but I do have items from other brands, and I have had more than one item from Coquette, for example, that is cheaper than this, but much higher quality.
Surprisingly, I don't actually mind the included G-string material too much though - it matches the ruched mesh sides of the chemise and is rather comfy. Originally, the thong had a sewing error, where one of the strings had been sewn on the wrong side of another string, meaning that one of the strings that sits on my hip was twisted and couldn't be untwisted as it is sewn in place. A replacement was sent out and I am pleased to report this second thong was correctly sewn.
This is my first chemise and I now know that I prefer a tighter item. I am a size 6, so got the Small 6-8. The sizing is acceptable for a chemise, but it you want it super figure-hugging, I'd put the Small at more towards an 8-10. On the photo, it looks like it could be a little more restricting, a little basque-esque, but seriously this thing is comfy as heck from the cups downwards, I think I could get away with this as sleepwear if I really wanted. The overall shape is like a short slinky nightie with slight emphasis on your waist curve. The bottom hem is cut in a straight line, which doesn't emphasise my bum as much as I wanted.
The adjustable straps are a godsend, as with everyday bras I can find getting short enough bra straps difficult, but these straps go so long and also so short that literally everyone will be able to adjust them to fit. The adjustable bra back for the Small size I would guess is a 32-34 inch. I am a 30 back, so one tighter hook-and-eye would make it fit me that tad bit better, but this is still an acceptable fit if you have a small back size, especially if you are a B/C cup (I am an A).
When it says that bra cups have padding, it is not of the cleavage boosting variety i.e. not "push-up" padding, it just means like an everyday bra that isn't made of flimsy material like lace (trust me when I say, the model's boobs are already perky, that isn't the chemise doing that). At a 30A, I wish there was more boost, but at the same time, my chest still looks pretty and my flatness isn't highlighted, due to the shape and detailing of the cups. I think bigger boobs would look amazing and the underwiring should help keep larger breasts held in place. If you have boobs above, say, an F, I think you might struggle and end up with "spillage" rather than "cleavage".
I am 5ft tall and this chemise barely covers my bum after I'd adjusted the straps accordingly. If you have a long torso, I'm not sure how far this would actually come down on you, it might border on looking tank-top-y, plus, whilst this piece has some degree of stretch, it won't hold in place if you pull it further down. This probably looks best on those with shorter torsos and longer legs. The suspender straps included are a nice touch but are non-adjustable and waaay too long for me, I cannot wear stockings with this without my legs looking stumpy and my stockings looking saggy.
Overall, I just wish I loved it more and felt sexier in it. I think it looks pretty on my petite frame, but I think on larger/curvier women, this piece will look red-hot sexy and will definitely make more impact if you have stronger curves to show off.
- Purple detailing, comfy, ruched sides do curve inwards at waist.
- Disappointed in quality for £30, not as tight as I would like.
- Bottom line
- I had high hopes, but was a little disappointed... I wouldn't pay £30.

I used to have a chemise that was not only comfortable enough to sleep in but made me feel sexy! I lost quite a bit of weight and it became too big on me. I've been searching for a replacement ever since. Sadly, this is not it.
The material feels very nice and the purple is gorgeous! Sizing is very generous I'm a 10/12 so bought a medium. I found it quite loose and was considering exchanging it for a small. I am under 5ft and found it a little long on me. Though I don't mind, I prefer it a little long rather than too short!
I hate my boobs spilling out of the sides or over the top, a common issue with 'sexy' wear. This makes it near to impossible for someone with large boobs to do anything without them falling out.
I really like it but fear it is just going to be another item in the box for occasional wear.
- Material is soft and comfortable, colour is gorgeous.
- Not for someone with large natural breasts.
- Bottom line
- Okay for occasional wear.
