I'd eyed this up for a while as I really wanted a good-quality rechargeable clitoral vibe, and this one just seemed to be about perfect. The kicker for me was the price and I couldn't justify it, but when it was reduced to £60 in the LH sale it seemed well worth a shot.

All I can say is, thank you, thank you, thank you LH sale, because the Matryoshka really is pretty perfect!

The vibration strength is really powerful, which was the most important thing for me, and there's sufficient variety in the five different levels, although even the lowest is quite strong. The power does carry through the vibe, meaning that the hand holding it can go a little numb, but it's minor and is a trade-off I'm willing to make for the excellent power.

Even better is the feature that allows any of the five patterns (steady vibration, two waves, and two pulses) to be used at any of the five vibration strengths. This is utter genius to my mind and makes the patterns something I enjoy using, as I can alter the strength to find what works for me - usually the patterns on vibes never seem quite right and leave me cold, so they just go unused.

The vibe is also perfectly tactile, with the softest of soft silicone - the nicest I've felt - and the unusual shape, which is so comfortable to hold and use. The 'head' of the skittle shape is the perfect balance between broad and precision for me; I find it small enough to target just where I want, but big enough that it doesn't leave anywhere feeling unpleasantly over-sensitised. However, for those that like a very pointed tip it could feel too large.

The only other similar vibe I was considering was the Je Joue Mimi, also a powerful silicone clitoral vibe, which I know gets excellent reviews. In the end I decided the Matryoshka had the edge in a couple of places: the travel-lock feature is really handy, and it's nice that this vibe comes with a storage box *and* a travel pouch. As well as these little touches, there's the previously-mentioned feature of the option to use the different patterns at any of the different speeds. This is something that I think the newer version of Mimi offers, but that version doesn't seem to be available from LH at the moment. As I've said, I find this a really, really great feature that properly makes the patterns worthwhile.

So all-in-all I really can't sing the praises high enough of this little vibe. It's not cheap, but now I've got to know it I'd say it was worth every penny. Highly recommended.

I was lucky enough to receive the Matryoshka as a tester item and when I found out I was so excited as I had wanted a rechargeable vibrator for a long time.

When you receive the Matryoshka (quickly and discreetly as always) you get a true sense of luxury. It comes in a strong, deep purple box with a lift off lid. Inside you get the Matryoshka, charging station and lid, manual and guarantee, charging lead with various adaptors and a lovely cream satin bag.

The manual is really straightforward showing just how easy the Matryoshka is too use.

First things first, you need to charge the Matryoshka for 8 hours for the first charge. After that you only need to charge for approx 2 hours. It's also worth knowing that if you plan to keep the Matryoshka in the charging station (like I do) you mustn't leave it plugged in as it can only be kept on charge for 24 hours max. But as the lead can be unplugged from the back of the station it is no problem. You can put the lid on the station whilst its charging which makes it very discreet.

Ok on to the best bits. The Matryoshka, being silicon is amazingly soft to touch. Its designed after the Russian dolls which are its name sake. This design makes them very easy to hold, fitting perfectly in to the palm of your hand with no cramps or twisting of the wrist in use.

There are 2 buttons on the Matryoshka, one controls the intensity and the other the vibration patterns (a steady buzz, 2 wavy and 2 pulsing). I must say this vibe is very powerful, with the first power setting being just as strong as most vibes' highest setting. I personally like setting 2 as it is very strong but not numbing. The wave and pulsing settings definitely spice things up and are great as more of a build up. A really great point is that to turn it on you only press any button once and to turn it off you press and hold down any button for 3 seconds, so when going through the different settings it doesn't turn off at the end, which for me is a pet peeve! It also has a travel setting (press and hold both buttons for 5 seconds to engage and dis-engage) so no embarrassing mystery buzz from your suitcase

The Matryoshka is not silent but it is surprisingly quiet. It couldn't be heard from outside the bedroom door which is always good if you don't live alone like me! BUT mine makes a very strange noise - its not a loud noise overall but it gets louder on the higher intensity settings. I can only describe it as a whining sound from the motor that too be honest freaked me out slightly at first! After 2 uses I got over that though and I don't really hear it now.

I can't really comment on the how long it keeps charge for as it hasn't needed re-charging yet. The manual says you get about 2 hours use and 90 days standby time - I have used it about 2 hours in total now and the red power light hasn't started flashing yet so I guess so far so good!

Overall I really can't fault this beauty!

It looks good, it is well packaged, but the packaging is very expensive and is the best part.

It took over 12 hours to charge the first time. It 'sounds' powerful but when applied to the skin the sensation is minimal at any level, even the highest...VERY frustrating!

If you are used to using a 'hard' type bullet (Mantrix for example) this is NOT going to do the trick. I am quite surprised that I cannot buy a 'hard' type bullet clitoral vibrator anymore and saddened to think that mine, which won't last much longer, may be the last 'toy' I get personal pleasure from.

The buttons are nice to feel, but if you have it the wrong way around during use, you have to break off to turn it around so that you can adjust the setting - again, very frustrating! I don't want to have to think at this time, I want to feel!

Very disappointing, very frustrating, and very poor value.
