After seeing this on sale and due to be discontinued, I knew I had to have it. I'm not a fan of anal play but the husband is, so I showed him the listing and he gave me the go ahead.
As always, our order was discreetly packaged and arrived promptly ready for us to try out. As with all Pipedreams products, the packaging is gorgeous, a hinged lid display box which opens up to showcase your new toy in all its glory.
The stripes on this are vibrant and pleasing to the eye, and the plug though ceramic feels well made and sturdy. The little bung at the bottom of the plug is a little tricky to take out when filling with water (especially when your hands are covered in lube - so that may be a job to do in advance).
We have used the plug both full and empty. When using empty the plug gave a nice full sensation, and when filled with ice cold water the plug was heavy and with every thrust gave a pleasant feeling that can only be compared to jiggle balls rolling as the water inside moved.
The plug is on the larger side and is rigid due to the material, so does need plenty of lube, and best to warm yourself up properly before use.
Being ceramic, clean-up is a piece of cake. Soapy warm water and then a little antibacterial toy cleaner and you're all set for round 2. Plus the box the plug comes in has a Styrofoam insert which you can use for store the plug in for safe keeping.
All in all, this was a fantastic buy which will be used again and again!
- Pretty design and great for temperature play.
- Bung is a little tricky to open.
- Bottom line
- A must-have!

Ceramix it up

This Plug arrives in the usual Pipedreams products packaging - a box with a hinged front hiding a preview pane to the product, which is encased in a Styrofoam type cut-out. All in all, a packaging solution I quite like
The plug is attractive to behold, but perhaps the design is a little bold for my usual understated tastes. It is smooth all over, although the paint job does give the impression that it might be textured! It is approximately 5 inches in circumference and about the same in length. It is a relatively elongated plug, with a steady increase to its maximum girth before a quick taper into the base.
In the base of the plug is a little rubber bung that is reassuringly tricky to remove (especially when lubed!), but not so much as to become frustrating. The opening is quite small though, and I used a small funnel to help fill the plug with water. I’ve used the plug a couple of times, and the bung still seems as tight as the first time.
Unfilled, the plug weighs 65g and when filled it weighs 115g, so it holds around 50ml of water.
The first time I used this plug was just to test how it felt as a plug, and was without any water. I must say I found that I couldn’t insert it by myself, and needed my wife to help me get it in. Once in it is quite comfortable, bearing in mind that it is completely rigid and has no give at all. In retrospect my troubles in inserting were down to the fact that I hadn’t “warmed up” with a smaller plug first. I kept the plug in for an hour or so whilst just going about my general day to day activities, and whilst there was no discomfort, it is a little more awkward than doing the same with a rubber or silicone plug.
The plug has a thin neck and a large base which is reassuring that it won’t work its way inside, but did cause me slight grief. After an hour’s wear and with moving about I did have slight chaffing to the skin around the outside of my bottom. I was mildly surprised by this as it really is so smooth with no discernible sharp edges. I put it down to simple friction, and resolved to use more lube around the base next time out.
Second time round, I used the Lovehoney booty buddy to warm up first and inserting was much easier. On this second time I used the plug with cold water. The plug I chilled in the fridge for 2 hours first, and the water had been in the fridge with ice cubes for the same period. The ice had not melted in the water, so the water itself must have been very close to freezing point. To touch, the plug felt as expected - like anything ceramic that’s been in the fridge for a couple of hours. Using plenty of lube and as much force as might be expected for a plug of 5 inch circumference, I was able to slide it in with minimum fuss.
I must say it was a pretty surprising feeling. I always enjoy the feeling of sliding a plug into my butt, but as this was so cold, it really heightened the experience, and caused a slight gasp as the coldness pressed against the inside of my bum. I soon adjusted to the coldness of the plug, but I think it generally heightened sensations in the whole pubic area, since any stimulation on my cock seemed heightened too. The coldness lasted for about 4/5 minutes, which to be honest I was a little disappointed with since it promises “up to 30 minutes”, but I suppose 5 minutes is “up to 30 minutes”. I had a pretty good orgasm using this, but can’t say that it was any better than an orgasm using any other plug. The real bonus is that extra 5 minutes of heightened sensitivity.
The next time of using this plug was with warm water. This time round I just used warm water out of the hot tap, which according to my boiler was at 45 degrees. I found that whilst it felt warm whilst being inserted, I couldn’t really tell a difference once inside. I had, however poured the water into the plug at ambient temperature, so decided next time to warm the plug first.
So on its fourth outing, I warmed the plug up in water at around 60 degrees before filling with water at around 55 degrees. As with cold water, the plug felt as expected, and again, the most pleasurable part was inserting the plug itself - the warmth radiated through my bum and really was pleasurable. The feeling of warmth lasted much longer than the feeling of cold, I could tell I had something of different temperature in my bum for about 15 minutes all told. I didn’t experience the increased sensitivity that I did when using cold water though.
One thing I was a little apprehensive about was putting something potentially breakable into my bottom, but this plug feels well made and quite hardy, and I actually had no worries about fragility once inserted.
So, this plug is great fun, but I should point out that in no way is it for beginners, firstly it is quite definitely medium in size, and to an untrained bottom, this might be quite a challenge. Secondly, it is rigid with absolutely no give, and that is a completely different kettle of fish from soft rubber or silicone plugs. I have had larger soft plugs in my bottom with less trouble than the rigidity of this.
I think if this has one flaw, then it is its size, whilst it is clearly aimed at intermediate users such as myself, it’s not quite big enough to transfer the heat/cold from the plug to the inside of your bum. However, having a bigger plug would require even more anal training! Plus, the feeling of inserting when hot or cold is incredibly nice and it did increase sensitivity for me.
- It is sleek and stylish, extremely well made, added sensitivity, feeling when inserting.
- Just left me feeling a little... unfilled.
- Bottom line
- Worth it for those curious about anal temperature play.

Hot or not?

I was lucky enough to pick up this plug for a bargain price just as Lovehoney were discontinuing it. After a bit of thought, I've decided to review it regardless; firstly because it is still available to buy elsewhere and people might mind it useful, and secondly because Lovehoney really do pay attention to what the buyers think, and can choose whether or not to restock products based on demand.
So, would this pretty looking plug be worth restocking? Well, it's made of a non-porous material, perfect for anal play. I'm careful these days to only buy products made from body-safe materials, so this is an immediate advantage. How does it compare to the likes of silicone, glass, or steel, then? Personally, I find the unyielding ceramic surface feels really good. It took a little getting used to, but with a decent application of lube the surface is nice and smooth.
Just like glass or steel, a ceramic toy can be pre-warmed or chilled. But this plug goes one step further! A discreet rubber bung in the base allows for a dash of warm (not hot!) or cold water to be added. I found that whilst adding either gave nice sensations when inserting the plug, neither lasted for long before it adapted to normal body temperature. Also, with wet hands, the bung is nigh on impossible to open. I guess that's a good thing, insomuch as it won't come loose unexpectedly, but it makes the post-play clean up a little trickier.
Overall, then, I rather like this plug. I wouldn't describe its USP as a gimmick, but it's equally not my favourite plug. It's still used occasionally, but nine times out of ten I'll reach for another.
- Striking appearance, nice size for intermediate anal play, ceramic material.
- Bung really tricky to open, effects of temperature short-lived.
- Bottom line
- Pretty good addition to the collection, but nothing mind-blowing.
