What is BDSM?
BDSM is an all-inclusive term given to any sexual behavior that might be considered 'kinky'.
Pain, physical restraint, and servitude would be frowned upon in a non-sexual scenario. In BDSM circles, however, these practices are engaged in with the consent of both people involved for mutual satisfaction and excitement. Bondage and sensory play fall under the category of BDSM.
What does BDSM stand for?
The acronym BDSM can be split into three major areas, or six different 'acts’:
- B&D: Bondage and Discipline
- D&S: Domination and Submission
- S&M: Sadism and Masochism
Why do people like bondage and BDSM?
During bondage play, there is a power dynamic that takes place, with one partner taking control (the ‘Dominant’ or ‘Dom’) and one person relinquishing it (the ‘submissive’ or ‘sub’).
The Dom/sub dynamic can be an exciting one to explore, as you can experiment with different roles and discover what turns you on most.
All sex play requires trust, but this is especially true when testing your body’s boundaries, like during bondage sex or fantasy roleplay.
Discovering bondage play in a loving relationship and experiencing new sensations together can bring you both closer and build trust that stretches way beyond the bedroom.
What are the Best Bondage Toys for You?
There are four different types of bondage: beginner, sensory, impact and hardcore. For every type, there are associated bondage toys.
Light bondage toys for beginners
These toys are suitable for first-time bondage play. We have plenty of bondage toys for beginners, which include light restraints, soft bondage gear, and toys to give your sex life a bit of a kick.
Adult toys for sensory play
Sensory play toys make use of your senses to heighten arousal. They can include feather ticklers, spankers, or nipple clamps.
Adult toys for hardcore bondage
The more daring may want to try Japanese bondage rope, spanking paddles or upgrade to a kinkier BDSM kit.
