Who really invented the Womanizer?
Good Vibes Only is a French blockbuster, known as “Pour le Plaisir” in France. But the real inventor of the Womanizer, Michael Lenke lived in a small village in southern Germany.
At a time when the sex toy market was dominated by phallic-shaped vibrators, Lenke discovered research that revealed how few women orgasm during sex.
His curiosity about women’s pleasure led him to start designing a sex toy focused clitoral stimulation, which often gets overlooked. He started creating early prototypes, including a modified aquarium pump, but they didn’t quite succeed, and his wife Brigitte was initially skeptical.
But everything changed with the final product. After testing it, Brigitte said: “This will be a global success.” That’s when Pleasure Air Technology was born, a new type of motor that avoided overstimulation delivering targeted clitoral stimulation without direct contact.
The first Womanizer helped define an entirely new category and played a role in revolutionizing female pleasure in the sexual wellness industry.
Over the years, Lenke received handwritten letters of thanks from women around the world who were able to achieve an orgasm for the first time with a Womanizer toy. They serve as a positive reminder of the real impact Womanizer has had and how conversations around women’s pleasure have become more open and less taboo.
Today, that original spirit of curiosity, innovation and the desire to make women happy continues to shape the brand.
The movie star you can take home
Womanizer remains a leading sex toy brand for women, even a decade after its first launch. Available in over 60 countries, it continues to evolve its deep understanding of what customers want through extensive user research and testing.
Its signature Pleasure Air Technology has been refined across a wide range of products, designed to suit different preferences, bodies, and experiences. That includes the real Womanizer toy you’ll see in the movie, which is the Premium 2. But that’s not all.
In 2025, the Womanizer Enhance was launched, and was the first Womanizer toy to receive a 100% orgasm rate—a reflection of the brand’s ongoing commitment to innovation and user satisfaction. These are the results of hard work and over a decade of fighting for women’s pleasure!
