    1. Bitter Disappointment

Reviewed: December 19, 2016 by Shadow Collector

When the Doc Johnson Booty Bling Silicone Butt Plug found its way on to the tester list I joined the maddening throng of excited potential testers by throwing it on to my list and hoping for the best. When I was selected it came as a highly pleasant surprise. There was a lot of worthy competition interested in the plug, so being picked was an honour in and of itself.

However, with hindsight I think that we all may have jumped the gun. This plug suffers from several cheap failings that make it not worth half the price asked, and if asked whether I would recommend it the answer is a resounding No.

I suppose I should start here with the good stuff. The packaging is crisp, clean and not over the top. It protected the plug during transit and didn’t make me cringe when I first saw it, so that’s one point in its favour.

Once it was out of its box the silicone caught my eye: soft, flexible and without hint of a flaw in site. It’s the perfect consistency for a beginner (or decorative) plug as the softness and delicate taper makes insertion and wear very forgiving.

At first glance, everything looked set to be great. Sigh... I wish I could say that was the case.

These good points cannot forgive the bad. The jewel is loosely held at best, liable to be town out at a moment’s notice. Where the silicone meets the gem, there is no effective seal that keeps it in place, so the edges fold in and out whenever the tiniest amount of pressure is put on them. I could easily fold them right back, revealing the base of the gem that is clearly stuck on with cheap, ineffective glue that I could hear cracking almost immediately. I’ll honestly be surprised if it holds together for more than two weeks before that lump of cheap plastic hits the floor. Furthermore, the jewel itself is shoddy at best, with several small imperfections (bubbles, scratches etc.) visible inside the plastic.

Beyond the annoyance of the sub-par quality, I remain genuinely worried about the safety of using it. The gem is not secure, and it seems to be providing a lot of the base's rigidity. In other words, if it were to fall out we’d be left with a very flimsy silicone base on an already tiny plug, and I’m not entirely sure I would feel comfortable wearing this at all for fear of my butt swallowing it. This might be paranoia, but I don’t fancy risking a trip to A&E.

I know a lot of people were excited about this range, so I’m sorry that I cannot give a glowing review. It was a nice idea that failed due to poor attention to detail, and I urge any beginners out there to look elsewhere for their first plug. Don’t be fooled by the pretty amethyst jewel, it’s not worth it.
