1. How to Choose the Perfect Dildo

This guide gives you all the info you need to know, but you could also try our patented Dildo Finder to help you find the right dildo for you. Just click the image below.

In all sorts of exciting colours, shapes and sizes, dildos are designed with ergonomic curves to stimulate all the right spots - they don't need to vibrate to bring you internal pleasure.

To find the perfect dildo, you must first consider what you'd like to use it for. For example, if you're hoping to try G-spot stimulation, you may want to try a dildo made from a firm material like glass or metal, with a slight angle or curve so it can easily hit the G-spot. If you'd like to use a dildo anally, you’ll need one that's made from an easy to clean material and also has a flared base to stop overinsertion.

Once you’ve figured out what you want, we’ll show you how to select the right dildo for you.

How to Choose the Perfect Dildo

    Shape

Dildos come in a huge variety of shapes, from lovingly realistic to colourful extravaganzas straight out of the imagination.

When purchasing your first dildo, it's usually best to pick the shape you find unintimidating or arousing – we think a smooth, small dildo is a great place to start. Dildos with a curved shaft are ideal for stimulating internal sweet spots, while dildos with ridges and contours can add exciting new sensations to the mix.

    Start with...

    Length and Girth

Once you've found a dildo shape or style you like, the next step is to find the perfect size for you. You might be fully satisfied with a small dildo (and many are), but if you're craving more, try out a longer or girthier dildo.

Remember to check the product descriptions to check the size before buying – some dildos really are massive! If you're sure you'd like to try out a larger size but worry about insertion, an inflatable dildo may be the best option for you.

    Material and Flexibility

Finishes, materials and flexibility make a big difference to the results delivered by your dildo. More rigid toys like silicone, glass and metal are great for working the G-spot or P-spot. They're also smoother than real feel, rubber or jelly, which makes them easier to insert and use less lube.

Most of the dildos we've recommended so far are made of realistic feel, TPE, and other rubber materials which can feel similar to real skin. Especially realistic are dual density or bendable dildos, which coat a firm core with a soft, lifelike material for ultra-realistic pleasure.

Glass dildos and metal dildos are often cast in sublime shapes for entirely new internal sensation – they can also be warmed or cooled for extra variety to your play. Silicone dildos are firm yet flexible, warm quickly to body temperature, and are easy to clean, making them perfect for anal play.

    Dildo Bases and O-ring Compatability

Last but certainly not least, don't forget to give some thought to the base of your dildo. A balled end will give you total control over a dildo if you're looking to thrust hard against it, while a suction cup base will let you attach your dildo to any smooth surface for a hands-free ride.

Flared bases are essential for anal dildos, to stop them going anywhere you don't want them to. A flared base also means you can slide your dildo into the O-ring of a dildo harness for strap-on sex. If the dildo is harness compatible, we'll let you know in the product details and also confirm which O-ring diameter the dildo is suitable for.

Some dildos are double-ended – these can be extra long for shared use, or they may be strapless strap-ons where one end is intended to be worn inside the vagina while the other penetrates a partner.
