Position of the Week:
Heaven Above

Bum’s the word this week, with a cheeky rimming position that’s great for beginners and seasoned anilingus lovers alike... It’s time to attempt the rimpossible!

A naked illustrated couple in a rimming sex position. The giver is sat on the floor by the receiver's butt as they lean over a table.

How?

One partner sits comfortably on the floor, while the other stands in front, leaning over a table, counter, or against a wall. Receiver, keep a little bend in your knees as you drape yourself over your chosen surface, pushing your booty out so the giver pays close attention.*

If you’re the giver, treat your lover to a little butt massage, running your fingers up the backs of their thighs and gently kneading the butt cheeks with the heel of your hand – or a wand massager.

Expert tip: Wands can be used to release muscle tension and help your lover relax... or you can tease them over any external erogenous zone to build sexual tension instead.

For your pleasure

Why?

With Heaven Above, you’re encouraged to get out of the bedroom to find the perfect surface to bend over – a fun one to try if you want sex to feel more spontaneous or adventurous.

As the standing partner bends over a surface, their butt will pop out beautifully while their lover kisses and licks their sweet spots from behind. And if rimming isn’t your thing, this works just as well for oral sex, especially when the receiver has a vulva.

Changing up the angles for oral sex feels really erotic, offering new and spicy angles to appreciate each other’s bodies. Plus, facing away from the giver can feel pretty liberating for shy receivers who worry about what they look like during sex.

Make it even easier

Ideally, you’ll find a surface that the receiver can comfortably bend over without straining their back or hamstrings – but you can always lean against a wall or sit on a sex chair instead.

For standing positions, it’s OK to use a yoga matt if that helps maintain your balance and grip. And, if you’ve got yoga blocks at home, you can stand or kneel on them to help adjust the height of your position.

As the giver, you might find kneeling for long periods a little painful. Fold up a towel and place it under your knees – or sit on your butt and lean back into your hands instead.

Make it even better

Before you go for the rim, kiss their inner thighs, nibble their butt cheeks, or trace a finger around the perineum* as you build anticipation. When you do begin to lick that hole, try alternating between using the flat versus the tip of your tongue.

If your partner has a vulva, grab a G-spot vibrator and slather it with lube so they can enjoy the vibrations from within while you tease them with your mouth.

If your partner has a penis, encourage them to pleasure themselves with a stroker while you lick them from behind. They might also enjoy the feeling of you cupping their balls while you rim them or even sucking on their balls before you get to work on their butt hole.

*perineum = that little bit of skin between the butt and the vagina or penis.

Make it even kinkier

Ever used a pussy pump? These intriguing toys increase blood flow to the vulva, which makes the area even more sensitive to touch. Using a pussy pump on the vulva before giving your partner a rim job is the ultimate tease – their labia and clit will practically be quivering with anticipation while you pleasure their butt instead (feels so close and yet so far).

Meanwhile, you can introduce some light bondage to turn this power-balanced position into something even more thrilling. Try soft wrist restraints or silky ties to tie the standing partner’s hands behind their back, adding a sense of surrender. If you’re using bondage rope, leave a space for a finger between the rope and your partner’s skin.
