Position of the Week:
Suck Me Sideways

Well, suck me sideways! This week, we’re diving into Kivin, a sideways oral sex technique that’s perfect for this time of year. After all, it’s the season for giving... like, laterally!

A naked illustrated couple in a sideways oral sex position. One is led on the couch and the other is knelt beside them.

How?

Getting into this position is easy, cozy, and sofa-friendly. Invite the receiver to lie on their back along the couch or bed with a couple of cushions under their head. You, the giver, kneel beside them, and give them oral from the side.

What you do with your hands here is up to you – more on that later – but it’s a great position to showcase your toys, especially if dildos or anal beads are in your repertoire. Oh, and put a towel down – you're gonna need it.

Feel the spirit of giving

Why?

The Kivin method is a sideways technique that feels seductively different to regular oral. Rather than licking the clitoris up-and-down, you’re going crossways – which also leaves the vagina open to penetration.

This position can change the dynamic of a BJ too, as your mouth and throat will cover the penis in a different way, and you have more room to use your hands for a little ball fondling or anal play (whatever the receiver is into).

A little novelty can make sex feel more spontaneous and adventurous – and even small changes to your technique can feel incredible when your lover is turned on and super sensitive.

Make it even easier

Lying back and getting head is already about the maximum comfort that a human being can enjoy! Ideally, they'll be reclined on a comfy sofa so you, the giver, can kneel on the floor and reach their sweet spots easily.

You might prefer to sit rather than kneel, so pick a pillow to sit on and protect that butt. Being slightly elevated might help reduce the strain on your neck, so try stacking cushions or a couple of large books with a pillow on top.

None of that working for you? You can also lie crossways across a double bed, at a 90-degree angle to your partner.

Make it even better

Anticipation is a huge part of arousal, which is why you’re going to tease your lover, stimulating the erogenous zones around the more sensitive areas first.

For a receiver with a vulva, a vibrating egg pressed against the opening of the vagina stimulates the lower edges of the internal clitoris. Hold the toy in place while you lick sideways across their outer clit. Wait until they’re good and wet before slathering the toy with lube and sliding it inside. Here, the egg will rumble against your partner’s G-spot, upping the intensity as you focus on their clit.

For partners with a penis, a prostate massager can transform the experience with deep internal pleasure that combines incredibly with oral sex. You can even choose a model with a remote control, like the Lovehoney High Roller, so the receiver can play DJ, freeing up your hands to wrap around the base of the shaft while you suck on the head.

If you’re leaving out toys, use your hands – stroke the inner thighs, balls, vulva, perineum, wherever feels good for your partner. They can also guide pressure with a hand on your shoulders or the back of your head, if you like that.

Make it even kinkier

Start simple with soft wrist cuffs to keep the receiver’s hands above their head or anchored to a bedframe, making them surrender to your sucking. If your partner enjoys directing your movements, reverse it – let them hold a short leash attached to your collar while you kneel and tease, or cuff your wrists behind your back while you kneel using your mouth for their pleasure. Discuss with your partner what – if any – kind of kinky dynamic you’d like here; no pressure, just some saucy power play, if that’s your thing.
