Position of the Week:
Splosh and Splash

This week, we’re entering the splash (and splosh!) zone. Let’s liven up those April showers you’ve heard so much about with a wonderfully wet and versatile position that cleans while you kink...

A naked illustrated couple in a penetration from behind sex position in the shower.

How?

Hop in the shower together and lather up under the hot water. It can feel deliciously intimate to wash each other – especially places no one else usually gets to touch, like armpits or between the cheeks! Grab some unscented soap and go wild.

When you’re ready for penetration, stand facing the same direction and slather on some silicone lube (it’s water-resistant, so it won’t immediately wash away). The receiving partner leans forward slightly, bracing hands against the shower wall or edge of the tub. The giving partner holds their partner’s hips or waist while entering from behind.

Feel wet and ready

Why?

Rear-entry sex opens up the body for deep penetration, while giving you plenty of freedom for passionate thrusting or using sex toys (just be careful with your lube – more on that below).

This position takes Doggy Style up a notch with the sensory bonus of warm water pouring over both your bodies. Exploring sex outside the bedroom is super steamy (literally, in this case) and shower sex means you can clean up from whatever sweaty, filthy, sticky foreplay you’ve been up to. Let’s be real, combining sex and showering saves time... and water! Let’s hear it for frugal fornication!

Make it even easier

You’re in a slippery space, so let’s take this one carefully. Start with both partners standing on a non-slip shower mat – this is not the time to test your balance skills. Giver, make sure your feet are planted about hip width apart so you’ve got a stable base for thrusting.

Receiver, keep a light bend in your knees and make sure you’ve got something to lean on, like the edge of the tub. If you’ve got grab bars installed, these will provide extra grip. Otherwise, you can use a shower chair to adapt this one into Reverse Cowgirl.

Make it even better

For a little sensory play, choose the ‘spray’ setting on your shower head and trail from the nape of your lover’s neck down to their butt and gently tease their labia or balls with the warm water.

Then, switch to a more targeted ‘jet’ style setting and tease their perineum (be careful to test the pressure on your hand first and avoid spraying inside the anus or vagina). Slowly change the temperature setting to send shivers of anticipation down their spine!

Don’t forget, lots of sex toys are waterproof and simply begging to be included in your shower session. Keep toys within arm’s reach before you start, because hopping soggily out of the shower mid-bang is a mood killer.

Toys with a long handle, like a massage wand or Womanizer might be easier to keep hold of in a slippery environment. Otherwise, pick a wearable toy, like the We-Vibe Sync O, which is waterproof and hands-free, meaning you can use your hands for grip instead.

Keep in mind: toys rated lower than IPX7 are only splashproof at best, so best to leave these ones in the bedroom. Also, silicone-based lube can degrade silicone sex toys, so avoid using the two together. Hey, it’s hot to know these things!

Make it even kinkier

You’re gonna get clean in the shower so why not get drrrty beforehand? Start your pre-shower ritual by warming massage oil in your hands and working all the tension out of your lover’s neck and shoulders.

Pick an edible massage oil (or something messier, like whipped cream or custard) and drizzle it over your partner’s nipples or toes before smearing it in and licking it off. There, you just tried sploshing, you kinky thing! Get extra wet and messy with jelly, paint, or even mud, if that’s the way your cookie crumbles. (Just avoid sploshing the genitals, please.)

When devouring something edible off your partner, go slow and sensual to build anticipation or simply gobble them up to show how turned on you are...
